What is a Louisiana Notary?
Brian J. Rhinehart - Mandeville Notary as does all civil law notaries exercises broad powers, as authorized by law. Louisiana notaries are commissioned by the Governor and are the only notaries to be appointed for life.
A Louisiana notary can perform/prepare many civil law notarial acts usually associated with attorneys in other states, with the exception of representing another person or entity before a court of law for a fee. Notaries are also not allowed to give "legal" advice.
A Louisiana notary can prepare any notarial legal documents including inventories, appraisements, partitions, wills, protests, matrimonial contracts, conveyances, and, generally, all contracts and instruments in writing.
