Update on the 2018 Regular Legislative Session

The Louisiana Notary Association is actively engaged with Legislators concerning electronic notary bills filed this legislative session. House Bill 572 by Rep. Tanner Magee and Senate Bill 358 by Senator Luneau would provide for electronic notaries public and electronic notary acts.

Please take the time to review these bills at www.legis.la.gov.

As drafted, the LNA believes these bills do not create an e-notary framework that protects the public nor one that fits with our civil law tradition.

LNA Members were at the Capitol on Monday expressing their concerns about these bills during Notary Day at the Capitol. We will provide more information as this situation develops.
